The Mashers defeated the Camden Greys in the ASFLC Super Bowl IV by the score of 27-16. The Mashers continued to do what they did throughout the playoffs...getting an early lead and letting their defense try to win it for them. The Mashers went into halftime with a 10-0 lead and in the 3rd quarter added two big touchdown runs to build the lead to 24-0. The first touchdown came on a Brian Westbrook 56yd touchdown run. Westbrook received the Super Bowl MVP award by rushing for 195yds on 25 carries. After an interception, Ronnie Brown also scored on a 14yd run. The Mashers ran for a season high 246yds on 46 rushes.
The Camden Greys put up 16pts in the 4th quarter including a 12yd touchdown pass from Donovan McNabb to Isaac Bruce on the last play of the game. Congratulations to Jeff Beyel on a great playoff run from the wildcard seed. Camden defeated Darien, DaGints, and Bloomington before falling to the Mashers.
Our ASFLC history has 4 seasons in the books...here is a quick look back:
Super Bowl I - Eau Claire defeats DaGints (Shane Graham MVP - 6 field goals)
Super Bowl II - DaGints defeat San Fran (Tom Brady MVP)
Super Bowl III - San Fran defeats DaGints (Willie Parker MVP)
Super Bowl IV - Mashers defeat Camden (Brian Westbrook MVP)
Super Bowl V - ???
Once again, thanks for another good season. We look forward to next season and hope we will have many returning owners!
