ASFLC Championship Games

With the results of the 4 divisional playoff games in, our AFC and NFC Championship Games are set.

In the NFC, Camden will travel to Bloomington. This will be 2 out of the past 3 years that Bloomington reaches the NFC Championship Game. This is Camden's (formerly Cincy) first trip to the Playoffs and 1st trip to the NFC Championship Game.

In the AFC, for the 3rd straight season, the Mashers will travel to take on the S.F/Orange County franchise. S.F has been in the past 2 Super Bowls. This year they will try to make it three straight trips under new head coach Rousel Glaciano. The Mashers will try to make their 1st appearance in the ASFLC Super Bowl.

Camden defeats DaGints

Camden defeats DaGints in the NFC Divisional Playoffs by the score of 31-17.

Donovan McNabb threw 4 short td passes and Camden's defense kept DaGints offense from their normal performance.

Congratulations to DaGints coach John Croyts on another impressive season.

Bloomington shocks the Tornados in OT!!!!!!!

Bloomington shocks Tustin in OT 27-24.

5 Tustin turnovers was the difference in the game. Tustin fumbled a punt inside the 15 which was converted into a TD as well as fumbling on an interception from my own end zone that also became a TD. The Tornados fought back and showed a lot of character, never giving up hope of a comeback when down 11 entering the 4th quarter. Needless to say, the emotional comeback was completed when Robbie Gould kicked a FG with 1 second left in the game and forced OT.

During the OT, Jamal Lewis ran the ball down my throat and Manning hit Galloway on a bomb to set up the winning FG.

AFC Divisional Playoffs

Orange County defeats Circleville 34-17 in the AFC Divisional Playoffs.

Orange County's defense was once again the story...holding Circeville to only 28yds rushing and forcing Carson Palmer into 3 int's.

This sets up the AFC Championship Game:

The Mashers will travel to Orange County for the AFC Championship Game

AFC Divisional Playoffs

Mashers 24 New York Titans 6

It was a defensive battle for the most part. The Mashers had a 10-0 lead at halftime and then 2 int's by Jake Delhomme led to two quick passing td's by Drew Brees to give the Mashers a commanding 24-0 lead. After that, not much else happened. The most exciting play of the game had to be OT Tarik Glenn picking up a fumble and rumbling 29 yds. for a touchdown to put the Titans on the board.

Congratulations to Tim Owens on a good season.

The Mashers will await the winner of the Orange County - Circleville game to see who they play in the AFC Championship Game.

Circleville 27, 2006 Eau Claire 24

In this down to the end wild card game that watched these two teams trade the lead several times. The out come came from the arm of Carson Palmer with 30 seconds left in the game. The key play in my eyes and many fans in this game was a 29 yard pass late in the first half from Palmer to Chad Johnson while being double teamed. Soon after Palmer ran in a 2 yards to pay dirt with 15 seocnds left. This brought the game at the half Eac Claire 14 - Circleville 10.

Key stats: Palmer 26/45 for 375 yards and 2 TD's.....Steven Jackson 18/81.

Bulger 25/40 for 300 yards and 2 Td's, 1 INT....Leon Washington 10/36.

Wildcard Round

Two of the wildcard round games have been completed:

NY defeated LA 21-16
and
Camden defeated Darien 27-19

The other two games are scheduled for tonight.

We will announce the divisional matchups and send out the pre-files tomorrow (Wednesday)

NFC Wildcard

In the NFC, Camden defeats Darien 27-19.

Camden's coach Jeff Beyel writes:

"the story of this game was the Camden defense and its ability to shut down the running game. Qbs Kurt Warner and Donovan McNabb combined on a solid game although McNabb really struggled during his time on the field tossing 2 INTs and completing just 5 of 13 passes for 58 yards and 1 TD. Warner, meanwhile, was fabulous completing an amazing 22 of 25 tosses for 267 yards and a pair of TDs.

Injuries also played a big role in the game as Darien saw some key defensive players go down. LLB Keith Bullock along with DT Albert Haynesworth left the game with injuries and that really opened the playbook for Warner and the Greys. The depleted defense had to sell out alot and that opened some key holes for Greys' RB Thomas Jones who was able to gain some critical yardage throughout the night enroute to a solid 72 yards on 16 carries.

There were some other huge events during this one as the Greys were able to recover two of their own fumbles and blocked a PAT. "We dodged a few bullets and then got some breaks and were able to capitalize on them." said Beyel

The Greys will now await to see who their next opponent will be."

AFC Wildcard

New York defeats Los Angeles 21-16

New York's coach Tim Owens writes:

"New York prevails in a bi-coastal grudge match. Craig Hentrich was a veritable star and held the game ball at the end...consistently got the Titans out of trouble or pinned the Wranglers deep in their own territory. Curtis and Tim swapped blows throughout in this very close game. A taut 2nd half run offense and run defense combo on the part of New York appeared to make the difference. Great job Curtis. Bring on the 2nd round! It looks like a New York year in football!!!"
